Backup picture in iPhoto manually

June 25, 2008 – 12:06 am

There is many way to backup your picture from iPhoto manually..Because in explorer..Your photos are ‘packed up’ in a single library file. The default location of this library would be in your Pictures folder. Default name should be “iPhoto Library“. I’m assuming that you’re using iPhoto ‘08…Here the way :

  1. If you wanna back up to a disc, just highlight the photos you wanna backup within iPhoto and click “Share>Burn“.
  2. If you wanna back up to another directory (either on the same drive or on a different one), drag the photos from iPhoto into the new location.
  3. Right click on “iPhoto Library” and choose ‘Show Package Contents‘ - Your photos can be found in “Originals>Year>Event Name“. NOTE: Be careful when browsing through the iPhoto Library package in Finder. Don’t simply delete/move/modify files in it, as it may botch up & corrupt your iPhoto Library.
  4. You could also backup your entire library by copying the whole ‘iPhoto Library’ file into a new location.
  5. Time Machine is another easy solution for backing up iPhoto
