Battery Health on my Mac

May 12, 2008 – 1:44 pm

Using coconutBattery application to show my battery heath. Using around 2 month. My mac can hold around 3 hours without using power charging. How about your mac?

Apple recommends calibrating your battery every couple of months. Your battery health is just your battery’s maximum capacity. This decreases over time as your battery wears out from a variety of factors. Obviously a decreased maximum capacity means less runtime on battery power.

Knowing the number of charge cycles gives a very rough approximation of how much the battery’s been through, but battery lifetimes vary significantly. Calibrating your battery allows it to “stretch” through it full capacity and makes sure your computer is receiving accurate charge data from the battery, and thus accurately displaying your maximum and current capacities.
