Install window xp using Boot Camp on Mac

Before this, i’m install window using parallels. Parallels running side by side with Mac os, that means starts using mac os first then choose application parallels. But boot camp is a different boot from mac os. That means using dual boot. can choose whether wanna start up mac os or window os.

So i try to install window using boot camp. Wanna see how to install it. It is easy to setup?.. Yaaa…very easy to setup.

  1. Need window xp with service pack 2 or later. You must use a single full-install Windows installation disc (Service Pack 2 is required for Windows XP installations). Do not use an upgrade version of Windows and do not install an earlier version of Windows XP and attempt to update it later to SP2 or
later. Use only 32-bit versions of Windows. If you have a Mac Pro or a MacBook Pro introduced in early 2008 or later, you can use a 64-bit version of Windows Vista.
  2. Open Boot Camp Assistant (located in /Applications/Utilities/) and follow the onscreen
    instructions.
  3. Create new partition for window. Just drag the the line. I’m give my window 40GB space. :)
  4. After finish create the partition, insert your window xp cd and wait until mac mount your cd content.
  5. In Boot Camp Assistant, click Start Installation.
  6. Your computer will restart and starts up from the Windows installation disc.
  7. Window start up installation will show up. Actually its same with normal window installation, just a few step different.
  8. Select “C: Partition3 <BOOTCAMP> [FAT32].”
  9. Format your partition.
  10. After installing Windows, install Mac-specific drivers and other software for
Windows using your Mac OS X Leopard installation disc.
  11. The Mac OS X disc installs drivers to support Mac components, such as:
    • graphics
    • networking
    • audio
    • AirPort wireless connectivity
    • Bluetooth®
    • Built-in iSight camera (external iSight cameras aren’t supported)
    • Apple keyboards
    • Apple Remote
    • brightness control for built-in displays
  12. To set the default operating system in Windows: In Windows, click the Boot Camp system tray item and choose Boot Camp Control Panel.
  13. Selecting an Operating System During Startup. You can select which operating system to use during startup by holding down the Option key. This displays icons for all available startup disks, and lets you override the default setting for the startup disk in Startup Disk preferences (Mac OS X) or the Boot
Camp control panel (Windows) without changing that setting.
  14. Done
