Is it recommended to upgrade to wordpress 2.5 (self hosted)?
April 13, 2008 – 1:12 amSome people hesitate to upgrade their wordpress version to the latest one, which at this time version 2.5. I was using version 2.3, to be frank I was reluctant to upgrade when wordpress announce the release of 2.5. My hosting provided upgrade of wordpress with a clik of a link (through Fantastico) . Just one click and it upgrade everything. My database is still okay and customized stuffs still there. From an end user view like me, I only see changes in their interface. Posting a post seem to be working better than wordpress 2.3.
Back up your data (you can never be too careful) and what are you waiting for? Give Wordpress 2.5 a try and if don’t like it, restore back to the older version. You would never know until you give a try…

I am reluctant to upgrade simply because I use too many plugins and am lazy to check them one by one.

nothing much….but WordPress 2.5 actually improves on the object-caching mechanism by caching an even-larger number of objects in the code by default.

WordPress 2.3.2 and older have security holes that are being actively exploited by hackers to inject spam links into blogs which are not maintained.
Some attack was barely noticeable since the injected code added to existing code.
