Setup Hotmail on Mail Leopard

July 29, 2008 – 1:04 pm

Yesterday i manage to setup my hotmail into my Mail application in Leapord. Why i need to setup in my mail? Because sometimes i so lazy to open the browser and sometimes hotmail very slow to load up.

I cannot direct setup without plugins called httpmail. You can get the plugins here.

1. Download the plugins and install like normal install.

2. Open your mail application and add new account.

3. Enter your name, email address and hotmail password, then press “Continue”

4. Choose “HTTPMail” from the list of available account types and enter a description
for the account.  Then press “Continue”

5. Check that everything looks good, then press the “Create” button.  Your account
should now be created and made available for use.

6. Done

What works?
•Downloading of email
•Sending of email
•Delete email
•Junk mail rules
•Simple folder synchronization
•Selection of transport encoding
Limitations (what doesn’t work):
•Newer Hotmail accounts will probably need to be upgraded to Hotmail Plus
•There are still some bugs that may cause Mail to crash randomly
•Creating new folders on the remote host using Mail
•Renaming existing folders
•Moving messages on the remote host

  3. i think cannot using this plugins with yahoo free account..Yahoo does not allow a “client” to use their free email..unless pay for yahoo mail plus..Or you can use free ypops fully compatible with yahoo mail and works
    with Outlook Incredimail Thunderbird
